A
Law that has been developed as a result of rulings made by judges in court cases

What is legislation (or statute law)
A
Acts of parliament that set the will of parliament in regard to an area of life and may include the prescription of sanctions of punishments.

How do common law and legislation compare?
A
CL has the ability to adjust with time and helps redefine laws that are unclear or are being interpreted for the first time. Lawyers refer to the latest ruling when preparing cases.
Legislation/statute law is static until it’s amended or replaced by a new law passed by parliament.
