C. difficile (clostiridiums)

B- cytotoxin
Caused by the four C antibiotics

Mild: Oral Metronidazole
Severe: Oral Vancomycin ± IV Metronidazole
NEVER: IV Vancomycin (because oral is topical and works better)
Campylobacter
- short incubation
- poultry
- abdominal pain, bloody diarrhoea, fever
- stool microscopy / culture
Mild: Supportive
Severe: Clarithromycin or Azithromycin

- Cause Salmonella Typhi
- Causes Enteric fever
- long intubation
