Applicant minimum eligibility requirements for appointment to warrant grade must be completed by ________ of the year in which the Chief Warrant Officer Appointment Board convenes.

The CWO applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Be a United States citizen.
- Be a member of the Coast Guard or Coast Guard Reserve with at least 8 yrs total active service in the U.S. Armed Forces…the last 4 years with the Coast Guard. The member must not be scheduled for separation nor have applied for retirement.
- Have placed in the top 50% on eligibility list for advancement to E-7 based on SWE results administered in May prior to January 1st deadline.
- • Be serving in pay grade E-6 or above and have completed at least one year of sea duty in pay grade E-6 or above if applying for the boatswain, weapons, or naval engineering specialties.
- • Possess normal color perception if applying for the AVI, BOSN, ELC, INF, MED, or WEPS warrant specialties.
- Obtain the commanding officer’s recommendation.

To meet the OCS eligibility requirements,
applicants must meet the following
criteria:
- Be a United States citizen with no questionable foreign connections.
- Be between 21 and 26 years of age.
- Meet the requirements listed in the Medical Manual, COMDTINST M6000.1 (series), Chapter 3.
- Duty status: Applicants for temporary regular commissions must be on active duty in the Coast Guard. Applicants with six or more yearsof previous activity duty creditable service for retirement, other than in the Coast Guard or Coast Guard Reserve, are not eligible.
PPEP applicants must meet the following criteria:
- . Be a United States citizen.
- . Be between 21 years and not yet 32 years of age
- Be an enlisted member of the Coast Guard or Coast Guard Reserve on active duty.
- Complete sufficient course work within 24 months for a baccalaureate degree.
- You must be enrolled/accepted for enrollment in an accredited 4-year college/university that is approved by Commandant (G-PRJ).
- You need to maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Achieve a minimum score of 36 on the Office Aptitude Rating (OAR).
- Be recommended by the commanding officer…NO exceptions!
- Per Chapter 3 of the Medical Manual, COMDTINST M6000.1 prior to PPEP acceptance (physical to have been completed within the preceding two years).
- Have no record of conviction by courts martial, non-judicial punishment, or civil court for other than minor traffic
violations.
Qualified applicants for the CGA examination must have good character and meet the following criteria:

- Be between 17 and 22 years of age.
- Must be unmarried and have no dependents.
- Have graduated from high school with credits in the required subjects.
