  • Central themes and important messages (eg. common themes and messages)
  • Recognisable patterns (eg. structure, patterns of rhyme, meter, order etc.)
  • Figures of speech (eg. metaphors, similes, personification, irony etc.)
  • Historical context (eg. written near a world war.)

  • In each paragraph talk about one stanza per paragraph
  • In each paragraph for each stanza use PET
  • Point: State the point of the stanza
  • Evidence: Give evidence, show the quotes as well
  • Technique: State the poetic techniques and explain their effect
