What are the simplex channels in the FDNY radio system and how do they work?

Answer 1

Transmit and receive (point-to-point) on the same frequnecy. Channels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 16

What are the duplex channels in the FDNY radio system and how do they work?

Answer 2

Transmit on one frequency but receive a signal back on a different frequency (therefore communicatioins on these channels is only possible in conjuction with a duplex UHF repeater). Channels 11, 12 (building repeater system) and channels 14, 15, (subways)

is the NYC Transit duplex repeater system always on?

When a repeater channel is being utilized, which FDNY members switch to the repeater channel?

Answer 4

All FDNY members, OTHER THAN THOSE DESIGNATED TO SWITCH TO THE REPEATER CHANNEL, will remain on HT channel 1
