Comeng Traction Flashcards
What circumstances will the LP flag raise?
-Main res pressure is below 500kpa
-EP brake is inoperative due to failure or isolation of power to lock out magnet valve
-The brake valve isolating cock and switch is closed
What are the “6 cocks in a box” ?
-Panto Ep isolate
-MA EP ISLOATE
-TRIP GEAR ISOLATE
-BP SENSOR ISOLATE
-PANTO & MA ISOLATE
-EP MR ISOLATE
What does the couple button do?
De energises the self centering device on the coupler. May be used when coupling 2 units together on a curved track
What air is used to lower the trip?
Control res
What does the compressor Contactor switch do?
Used to turn off or on the air compressor on the motor car the switch is located in
What does a steady air con light mean?
What does it mean when it’s flashing?
Steady means one air con has failed in atleast 1 carriage.
Flashing means 2 air cons have failed in the same carriage
What does the supply light mean?
When illuminated it indicates that 110 volt DC is operational on the train.
Atleast 1 MA must be operating to supply this light
How long does the emergency marker lights stay active?
The emergency marker light system has a 2 hour timer that will need to be reset to allow continued operation
What are the positions of the master controller?
Notch 0 is coast
Notch 1 is shunt
Notch 2 is series
Notch 3 is parallel
Notch 4 is weak fields
How long do you need to press the train lined park brakes button?
5 seconds
When would you place the LSM isolating switch to off?
-Pantographs will not raise
-Motor alternator will not start
-Pantographs lower for no reason
-EP circuit breaker trips continuously
What does the pantograph isolating switch do?
Isolates the pantograph on that car and prevents it from being raised or lowered from any car.
What does BVICS stand for?
Brake valve isolating cock and switch
What does the control circuit breaker control?
And is it train lined
It is train lined and protects the control circuit reverser, master controller, rheo brake, Panto raise and lower, traction overload reset and control governor.
If the rear motor car has a control circuit breaker tripped you will get a constant flashing blue door light
What does the auxiliary control circuit breaker protect?
Bell, auxiliary start, doors release and close, saloon lights, couple and uncouple, air con #1 control, local rheo, couple self centering.
