What is the recommended duration of therapy for:
AOM, ABRS, CAP, HAP/VAP, AECOPD, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia?
AOM: 6 mo - 2 years 10 days, 2-5 years 7 days, 6+ years 5-7 days. Severe = 10 days
ABRS: Kids 10-14 days, adults 5-10 days
CAP: until clinical improvement but at least 5 days (7 days if MRSA/Pseudomonas).
HAP/VAP: 7 days
AECOPD:
Gonorrhea: Rocephin 250 mg IM + Azith 1 g PO ONCE
Chlamydia: Azith 1 g single dose, or Doxy x 7 days
Syphilis:
-Primary or Secondary PCN BZTHN once
-Tertiary, latent, or retreatment: PCN BZTHN weekly x
3 weeks.
-Neuro or Ocular: PCN 18-24 mil/day x 10-14 days.
What infectious diseases should be tested for at first prenatal visit?
NAAT vaginal swab for Chlamydia + Gonorrhea (C+G) and serology for Syphilis.
