Types of Orders
- Warning Order
- Operation Order
- Fragmentary Order
Warning Order
- a preliminary notice of an order or action which is to follow
- issued prior to beginning the planning process (i. e. the “ B” in BAMCIS) in order to allow subordinate leaders and units to maximize their preparation time
Operation Order
a directive issued by a commander to subordinate commanders for the purpose of effecting the coordinated execution of an operation
Fragmentary Order
- an abbreviated form of an operation order, usually issued on a day-to-day basis
- Typically in response to enemy actions

EN Situation
Composition, Disposition and Strength - SALUTE ( Size, Activity, Location, Unit, Time, and Equipment)
Capabilities/Limitations - DRAW-D (Defend, Reinforce, Attack, Withdraw, and Delay)
EMLCOA - mission (w/ tactical task), current actions, on contact
Friendly Situation
HAS Higher’s Mission/Intent (2 above) Adjacent Units Supporting Units Attachments/Detachments
Mission
5 W’s”: Who, What, When, Where, and Why
Execution
- Commander’s Intent (PME; M:CG,CV,EP),
- Concept of Operations (anonymous, sequential, and
thorough) ; SM:DDFTC; FSP:TPM(TTLODAC)E - Tasks (tac task, 5Ws)
- Coordinating Instructions
Administration & Logistics
Administration - WIA, KIA, EPWs, CASEVAC, Point of contact
Logistics - stepping with, resupply
Command & Signal
Signal - primary/alternate Challenge and Password, primary/alternate/tertiary radio frequencies to be used during the operation, and any other signals (pyro, smoke)
Command - Loc of Key ppl; succession of command
1/3, 2/3 Rule
Give subordinate leaders time to prepare and issue their own orders. Divide available time in thirds. The unit leader uses 1/3 time available and the remaining 2/3 is allocated to subordinate leaders.
