harmony
created when colours close to each other on the outside of the colour wheel are used together. harmony is easy on the eye. for example, blue and green create a relaxing image.
contrast
when colours far apart in the colour wheel are used together. contrast is eye-catching, can be described as complementary colours.
what are advancing colours?
they are warm colours, red , orange,yellow, it makes rooms feel smaller and warmer, like an optical illusion.
what are receding colours?
they are cold colours, blue, green and violets. they make rooms feel larger and colder.
tone
term used to describe how strong or weak colours are.
all colours can be produced in a full range of tones.
how to choose a colour scheme!
interior designers and graphic designers are very careful when choosing a colour scheme, a simple rule designers only use two or three main colours, they use colour wheels to help them.
