Q

what causes the colours of light to be refracted by different amounts

Q

how are lasers used for discs and CDs

A

A laser makes a series of pits on the surface of a disc that codes for the data on the disc, the surface is then coated with a thin layer of metal. When the disc is put into a machine, low-power lasers bounces light off the surface of the disc and reads the series of pits to reproduce data.
