Colossians Flashcards
“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.”
– Colossians 1:22-23
I am reconciled in the body of His flesh through death.
I am holy, blameless, and above reproach in His sight.
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of His Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
- Colossians 1:13-14
I am delivered from the power of darkness.
I am conveyed into the kingdom of His Son of His love.
I am redeemed through Jesus’ blood.
I am forgiven of all my sins.
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”
– Colossians 2:9-10
I am complete in Christ.
In Christ, dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and I am in Him–complete!
He is the head of all principality and power, and I am complete in Him!
“In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”
– Colossians 2:11-12
I am circumcised in Christ, putting off the sins of the body of the flesh.
I am buried with Him in baptism.
I am raised with Him through faith in the working of God.
“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”
- Colossians 2:13-14
I am made alive together with Him.
I am forgiven of all trespasses.
I am free from the handwriting of requirements that was against me, He nailed it to the cross for me.
“Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations…These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.”
- Colossians 2:20, 23
Since I died with Christ, from the basic principles of the world, I don’t need to subject myself to regulations that may have an appearance of wisdom but have nothing against the indulgence of the flesh–I am free from that since I died with Christ.”
“If you then were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
- Colossians 3:1-2
Since I am raised with Christ, I’ll seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting the right hand of God.
Since I died and my life is hidden with Christ in God, I’ll set my mind on things above, not on earthly things.
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”
- Colossians 2:6-7
Since I’ve received Christ, I’ll walk in Him.
I am rooted and built up in Him.
I am established in the faith, as I’ve been taught, and I abound in it with thanksgiving.
Thank you, Father!
“…that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to the riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
- Colossians 2:1-3
My heart is encouraged, being knit together in love.
My heart attains to the riches of the full assurances of understanding.
My heart attains to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ.
I am in Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”
- Colossians 1:27-28
God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery to me: which is Christ in me, the hope of glory.
I am perfect in Christ Jesus.
“Therefore put to death your members which are on earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry…
…Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. In which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
…But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
…Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
– Colossians 3:5-9
Because I died with Christ and was raised with Him, I put to death my members on earth such as fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness.
Because I died with Christ and was raised with Him, now I can put off anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of my mouth.
Because I died with Christ and was raised with Him, I do not have to lie to one another.
Because I died with Christ and was raised with Him, I have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created Him.
“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you must also do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of God rule in your heart, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
- Colossians 3:12-17
I am the elect of God.
I am holy and beloved.
Since I am holy and beloved, I’ll put on tender mercies.
Since I am holy and beloved, I’ll put on kindness.

Since I am holy and beloved, I can bear with one another, forgiving one another.
Since I am holy and beloved, if anyone has a complaint against another, I’ll forgive as Christ forgave me.
Since I am holy and beloved, above all, I’ll put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Since I am holy and beloved, I’ll let the peace of God rule in my heart, to which I am called in body, and am thankful.
Since I am holy and beloved, I’ll let the Word of Christ dwell in me richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in my heart to the Lord.
Since I am holy and beloved, in whatever I do in word or deed, I’ll do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
“Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”
- Colossians 3:22-24
Because I know the Lord will give me the reward of the inheritance and knowing it is Him whom I am serving, I can therefore obey my masters according to the flesh, in all things. Not with eye-service or men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.
“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
- Colossians 4:5-6
Since I am holy and beloved, I can walk in wisdom toward those who are outside.
Since I am holy and beloved, I redeem the time.
Since I am holy and beloved, my speech is always with grace, seasoned with salt, that I may know how I ought to answer each one.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
All things were created through Him and for Him.
And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”
