note: This suffix can be used with any color in French. Although the suffix “-ish” in English could be neutral or informal, in French, it often sounds a bit literary or poetic. You’ll often see colors described this way in books or poetry.

brown (for hair)

brun / brune / bruns (plural)
She has brown hair = Elle a les cheveux bruns
She is a brunette = Elle est une brune
