How is delinquent child support handled?
After one month of nonpayment, Colorado Child Enforcement Division has permission to:
driver’s license suspension;
• professional, occupational, and recreational
license suspension;
• passport denial, revocation, or limitation;
• credit reporting;
• unemployment compensation benefits
intercept;
• workers’ compensation benefits intercept;
• state vendor payment intercept;
Can ask the court to garnish up to 65% of wages.
How is child support determined?
Only applies to the first $8,550. 20% for the first child, and 5% increase for each child after that.
If the court intends to go beyond the specified amounts, then they must do so in writing, detailing the specific reasoning for deviating from the standard.
