Color Vision in Aircrew Flashcards
Define hue, saturation and brightness.
List the 3 types of cones and their quantitative relationship.
Red > Green > Blue
Red:Green is 2:1
Red + Green:Blue is 10:1
What is color with regards to red, blue and green wavelengths.
Color is what is perceived as the difference between the waves.
Define protan dichromat.
Define deutan dichromat
Define protanomalous anormal color vision.
Define deteranomalous abnormal color vision.
What is the most common abnormal color vision defect?
Deuternamalous
What color cone is lost early in eye disease? What is the pattern between the eyes?
Blue, asymetric
List three causes of acquired color deficiency.
- Macular degeneration
- DM
- Glaucoma
Describe the cone contrasts test.
Letters only detected by a single cone type. Able to describe severity level. The blue test allows detection of early eye disease.
What test is now the USAF gold standard for color vision testing?
CCT
Define tritanomalous color deficiency. What is it’s frequency?
Blue deficiency. Very rare hereditary. Commonly seen early in acquired eye disease.
