Primary colors
Three colors within a subtraction system that don’t have other colors present in them and are used to make secondary colors (red blue yellow)
Secondary colors
Made with two primaries (violet green orange)
Tertiary
Combination of secondary and primary color (red red orange, blue green green)
Temperature of color
Warm and cool. Warm hues are yellow, orange, red and cool hues are violet blue and green. Temperature is relative, meaning that two yellows can be respectively cool and warm even though they are both technically warm
Complimentary colors
Across from each other on the color wheel and combines all primaries together (blue and orange mix red/yellow and blue. Others are red green and yellow purple)
Analogous colors
Next to each other on the color wheel
Tones, tints, and shades
Tone = hue + compliment + white
Tint = hue + white
Shade = hue + compliment
