collective action
any group based activity that diverges from the social norms of a particular situation. may be planned and goal oriented, but may be spontaneous responses to a situation
social movement
a specific form of collective action in which excluded or marginalized social groups with a shared sense of purpose and solidarity mobilized themselves to affect social change and achieve specific goals through extra institutional channels
Munson’s model of movement participation
