Eric met Eva Smith in the palace bar after Gerald had, once again Eva fell in love with Eric and he took advantage of her, and this is how she fell pregnant, Eric attempted to steal money for to provide for the baby, but when Eva found out that he had stolen it from his dad then she broke up with him, because she didn’t want him stealing money.

Eva applied for charity for help to support her baby, but when Mrs Birling turned her down because of her class difference, this ultimately caused her to drink the chemical and die.
