Collect Flashcards
What is the core OR problem the Collect module is addressing or solving?
Helps increase accountability to block time &
provides a decision support tool to help right-size blocks by identifying truly repurpose-able time
Describe how Collect is more actionable and surgeon-centric than block utilization.
Traditional methods are not comparable across service lines and do not account for complications like block releases which ultimately penalizes surgeons. Collect is surgeon centric and identifies repurpose-able Block Time ( Large contiguous portions of time that could have been used for another case) while assuring it not to impact the surgeons business.
Can the block letter in Collect be modified?
Only the last paragraph. (the rest is static BUT inputs the results specific to that block owner)
Is there a warning letter in collect?
The block letter could be used as a warning, if you want by simply adding the appropriate warning verbiage in the last paragraph (only customizable area) & choose not to take blocks away by entering “0”
Describe the benefits of Collect relative to using block utilization to make block decisions.
- No disputable & visual way of looking at block usage
- surfaces true repurposable based on your criteria
- fair & centric way of comparing block utilization across service lines
What is the intended use case for Collect?
Right-size block to best match the expected volume against the block allocated.
On the detail view of collect, how can I see which room is which (for groups with multiple blocks on 1 day)?
On the day of block, you will see a stacked view of blocks owned for the day (ex. 3 would display 3 bars on that day with the appropriate usage for each such as used, collectable, unused, release etc.)
Can the visualizations in Collect be downloaded directly from iQueue?
No, but the details of their minutes used time, delay & unused time, whole blocks unused etc. can be printed & shared in the block letter.
Can different users see the Collect Table that I am working on?
No, not that you are working on. However, all completed tables are saved int he completed history along with actions taken & notes for anyone who has login privileges to this area.
Describe the Collect table in detail - how is it formatted and why? Can it be customized, resorted, etc?
- The collectable table can be customized to surface collectable time based on the criteria you choose (% manual release, hours of continuous unused time and filters by day of wk, location, hiding or selecting block owners/service lines)
- The 3 columns (block owner a-z/z-a, allocated block & excess block both can be drilled down do a more micro level by qty, qty vs. % & a-z/z-a)
How can Collect be used to repurpose block time at any one hospital? i.e. How/where can you repurpose time?
depending on setup & size of account:
- you can begin filtering your collectable table to run based on location (top left side). If 1 hospital only, it will default to that, if more hospitals/regions, the drop down will indicate choices.
2- if there are regions [multi locations], you can choose additional filters button & apply the desired location.
A new surgeon was allocated block (and never had block in the past) - how soon can the new block owner appear on the Collectable table?
They show no Collectable time for 90 days after being awarded block. Diana
Original answer: I believe once assigned block in EPIC (or any EHR) they would appear that next morning after the daily extract. If you then run your collectable table & it met your criteria they would appear. However, since they would appear as bad stewards of time & are only starting to used their newly assigned block, I would recommend that you simply monitor to determine the right amount of growth & assignment of block matches or exclude them for a time to allow for growth of their business.
How can you translate Collect into meaningful ROI for clients?
increase primetime utilization
What does it mean when a surgeon has a lot of Collectable Time but I don’t see many red bars in the detail view visual?
There could be a pattern of releasing or unused time that is just not hitting your criteria but is visible nonetheless.
