Cold environments are areas of land permanently covered by ice. They are covered by glaciers, ice sheets and have frozen soil/rock. The temperature is consistently below freezing.

A glacier is a slowly moving mass or river of ice formed by accumulation and compaction of snow on mountains or near the poles.
