Q

“ oh! But he was a tightfisted hand at the grindstone, screwed? Squeezing wrenching grasping scraping clutching covetous old sinner

A

Narrative oh suggest that even the narrator is overwhelmed by how unpleasant he is. The adjectives are semantically linked by the hand this shows how tiny Scrooge hold onto things possibly his traumatic past. screwed single-minded focus is on loud squeezes the money out of people grasp of the script some more to benefit himself and convets what he doesn’t have. The seven verbs are synonymous of the seven deadly sins this shows that the rich are the problem not the poor. The verbs have an onomatopoeic feeling associated with greed which reflects Dickens presenting Scrooge as a caricature for greed
