Q
less appropriate for chronic
A
- Less appropriate for chronic depression, not motivated (6-20 sessions, but lack avolition), don’t turn up, waste sessions (-). Perhaps give antidepressants. Thus cognitive alone aren’t appropriate for severe depression
5
Q
AO3 - environmental
A
CBT fails to acknowledge that some mental disorders may be due to biological factors. EXAMPLE: For example, according to the Biological approach, OCD may be linked to low levels of serotonin in the brain suggesting that the cognitive therapies ignore the role that biology can play in a mental disorder. EVALUATION: This is problematic because it means that CBT will not work for some clients as the role of biology in mental disorders is not being considered.
