What does the PEACE model of ethical interviewing involve?

CI = ^effective than standard interview. Geiselman et al. showed ppt film of violent crime then interviewed by officer using CI or standard interview. Avg correctly recalled facts (CI) = 41.2, standard was 29.4
Köhnken et al. found 81% increase in correct info using CI techniques but this was offset by 61%^ in incorrect info, compared w standard
EI = ^success. Holmberg and Christianson studied murderers’ experiences of police interviews, found interviews of intimidation/dominance (police) = most associated with denials. Interviews of respect and +attitude to suspect = confessions
What does ‘report everything’ involve?

What does ‘reinstate the context’ involve?

- Asked to imagine all aspects of scene e.g. weather, how they felt during
- Context cues = aid recall
What does ‘reverse the order’ involve?

- Describe what they saw in diff chrono order
- Likely give truer account, no relying on expectations
What does ‘change perspective’ involve?
