- CHANGING PERSPECTIVE, interviewer asks them to report it as if it was seen by someone else

- CI uses open questions, STANDARD doesnt
- STANDARD doesn’t allow them to speak freely, CI does
- CI adapts language to suit individuals, standard doesnt

-meta analysis done by researcher shows CI consistently provided more correct info, SO THERE ARE REAL PRACTICAL BENEFITS

2 weaknesses of CI
A
- time consuming, more time needed to make them relaxed etc
- not all techniques used by police; some elements may be more valuable than others, each technique singularly produced more info than the standard police interview but a combination of everything produced the best results
