Q

what are the weaknesses of the cognitive interview?

A
  1. also found an increase in accurate information recalled, this suggests that the cognitive interview may favour quantity of information rather than quality leading to less accurate EWT, this means police should treat eyewitness evidence from CIs with caution
  2. not all of its elements are equally as effective or useful, using all 4 parts may be unecessary and shown that using a combination of report everything and reinstate context produced better recall than any other elements, doubts credibility of usefulness of CI as a whole
  3. this means that the whole CI can be considered time consuming, because the process can be long especially when it comes to many witnesses and police must be trained specifically for it, shows that it may not be realistic to use as a whole, may be better to focus on a few elements
