What is Stage 1; mental reinstatement?
A
When the witness describes their thoughts, feelings and experiences during the event
This causes external/internal cues to trigger memory

What is Stage 2; change of perspective?
A
When events are recalled from someone elses perspective to reduce the negative effect of their OWN schemas

What is Stage 3; Change of narrative order?
A
- When witness is asked to recall events in a different order
- We remember the first and last thing to occur but the middle is easily forgotten

What is Stage 4; Recall everything?
A
- The witness is asked to recall everything
- This can trigger internal/external cues
- This ensures important details aren’t missed out
