Q

what is codominance?

A

-instead of one allele being dominant and the other recessice, both alleles are equally dominant which means that boh alleles of a gene are expressed in the phenotype

Q

what is an example of codominance?

A
  • in snapdragions the allele for red coloured flowers and white coloured flowers are heterozygous so both dominant allelesare presenty the flower produced will be pink
  • however if the flowers are homozygous either red or white colour will be produced as both alleles are not present

Q

how is codominance shown?

A
  • subscript is used when there is more than one dominant allele
  • for example a captial C (for colour) will be ued and R for red colour and W for white colour which would be written as C^w or C^R
