What is a coastline?
A place at which the land meets the sea.
What is weathering?
The break down of rock ‘in situ’.
What is mechanical weathering?
Weathering that causes a physical change to the rock shape.
What is chemical weathering?
Weathering that causes chemical change to the rocks structure.
What is biological weathering?
Plants and animals weaken rock structure.
What is mass movement?
The downhill movement of material under the influence of gravity.
What is erosion?
The wearing away of the land by a moving agent (the sea).
What is rock fall?
When bits of rock fall freely from a steep cliff face, usually due to freeze thaw weathering.
What is a landslide?
Where a large amount of rock slides down a steep cliff.
What is a mud slide?
Saturated soil (soil filled with water) flows down a slope.
What is rotation slumping?
Saturated soil slumps down a curved surface.
