Interrupt the flow of sediment in longshore drift.

A
Beaches, salt marshes and sand dunes

What is beach nourishment?
A
When beach sediment is dredged offshore and added back onto the beach. Also, there is a random distribution of pebbles all over the beach, so that angular pebbles at the front of the beach can dissipate wave energy earlier to prevent waves moving as far up the beach.

Prevents waves from eroding land after the beach.
