First Session or Before
1- Set climate/stage: establish rapport; gauge intentions
2- Determine is person is appropriate candidate
3- Explain process
4- Establish Coaching Agreement: guidelines & parameters; responsibilities & expectations; type of coaching relationship
5- Review assessments and other data
6- Ensure appropriate time management
Early (1st, 2nd or other early session)
1- client assesses current state of health and well being
2- explore vision of optimal health and well being
3- identify gaps between 1 & 2
4- explore and clarify priorities
5- establish long-term goals
6- establish short-term SMART goals and action steps
7- support client achieving SMART goals or action steps including back up plans
8- establish preference for learning and accountability
Routine Ongoing Sessions
1- connect, have client self asses state at beginning of each session
2- check in on prior commitments/action steps
3- invite client to select focus for session
4- establish or refine short-term SMART goals and action steps
5- articulate new action steps and adjust plan if needed
6- discover and reflect on client’s learning
7- communicate appreciate of client’s work
8- invite client to provide feedback on session and Coach
Coaching Program Termination
1- invite client to reflect on, assess,, and articulate progress, challenges, lessons, growth
2- assist in developing sustainable pathway forward; maintenance/rep lapse prevention plan
