Q

What is Hydraulic action?

A

Air becomes trapped in gaps in rocks, then when a wave smashes into them, the air is compressed, slowly weakening the rock

Q

How are stacks made?

A

When overhanging land from arches can’t support itself, and so collapses, separating 2 pieces of land, the one not connected to the mainlands is the stack

Q

How is a ‘wave-cut notch’ formed?

A

When abrasion and hydraulic action erodes the cliffs more at high tide, the lower land isn’t eroded as fast, and so a wave-cut platform is formed

Q

What is the order of the costal erosion at ‘The Forelands’?

A
