Q

Steep Turns

A

-Start a slow bank and nose at horizon;
-As you pass through 30° a bank, pitch nose to 2.5-5° ^;
-Increase power approximately 10%;
-Park the bank at 50°, and work the pitch to maintain altitude;
-Roll out ahead of heading 10 to 15°;
-Notes: it is important to keep the pitch at 2.5-5°^, ball centered, and maintain altitude;

Q

Slow Flight

A

-Gear down;
-Power 35%;
-Flap APR° (<137 KIAS)
-Flap LDG (<111 KIAS)
-Increase power to 65% to hold level
altitude;
Add right rudder at same time;
-Pitch for 76 KIAS (Vr) (established);
-Pitch for airspeed, power for altitude;
-Keep ball center, will require right rudder;
-Recovery: full power, flap, gear, flap;
-Maintain heading and level altitude
through recovery;
-Notes: must maintain altitude within
50’;

Power Off Stall

A

-Gear down;
-Power 35%;
-Flap APR° (<137 KIAS)
-Flap LDG (<111 KIAS)
-Start a slow/steady descent; around 500fpm
-Power to idle
-Bring nose to 3-5° nose up
-Recover first indication of stall;
-Recovery: lower nose to horizon (no lower);
-Full power, right rudder and FLAP APR immediately;
-Pitch for 82 KIAS (Vy);
-Positive rate, Gear up, FLAP UP;
-Notes: adding full power requires right rudder to hold hdg;

Q

Power on stall

A

-Pitch for 90 KIAS (8°^) - departure;
-At 90KIAS, Increase power to 65% and pitch to 15°;
-Recover on first indication of stall by reducing angle of attack to no less than 5 degrees and adding full power
-Pitch for climb at 82 KIAS (Vy)

Q

Vmc Demo

A

-Pitch for 90 KIAS (8°^) - departure;
-Lower nose to 5°;
-Both engines 100% Power;
-Walk the left engine to idle as you add right rudder
-Return hand to right engine power lever;
-Add right rudder and right bank to maintain heading;
-Slowly pitch up for airspeed <= 1 KIAS p.s.;
-Recover on the first of three things:
● Reaching 71 KIAS (Vmc)
● First indication of a stall,
● Loss of directional control more than 20°;
-Recovery:
● Power to idle, Release right rudder at the same time
● Pitch 10° below the horizon,
● Wait for 85 KIAS (Vyse) use 90 KIAS
● Power up on the right engine for recovery as you add right rudder
● Slowly pitch 5 degrees; no slower than 85 KIAS (Vyse), and wait for positive rate
-Notes:
● Keep right bank as you slow down.
● While slowing, you will need more right rudder.

Q

Emergency Descent

A

-Will be given some type of an emergency, likely a fire;
-Gear down;
-Power Idle;
-Bank 30 to 45°; split it
-Pitch 15° down; Up to 155KIAS
-Look for a suitable landing spot
-Level off 200 to 300’ prior to altitude;
-Once level, 50/50 power, gear up;

Q

Single Engine Shut Down and Restart

A

-Will be given some type of engine problem;
-Reduce power 10% on affected engine;
-Pull out checklist and look for engine problem checklist;
-Keep flying the airplane – hold altitude/hdg;
-Engine problem will get worse;
-Put away checklist;
-Power on affected engine to idle;
-Flow to shutdown the engine
● Maintain control, HDG → Rudder Airspeed → No slower than 85 KIAS (Vyse), IDEALLY 90 KIAS
● Maximize power,
● Minimize drag, Flaps up, Gear up
● Identify, → Dead foot, dead engine
● Verify → gauges, eyes, common sense
● Feather
● Turn correct engine master off
-Engine restart:
● Below 6000 ft
● Dead/Feathered engine idle,
● Slow TO 90 KIAS (NO SLOWER THAN 85 (Vyse) bring working engine throttle to roughly 65% load to achieve this
● Engine Master On,
● Add 10% power on good engine, add significant rudder, maintain altitude and heading
● Wait for glow plug to go off,
● Turn start key in between prop rotations.
● Marry Power Levers,
● Remove any trim that was added;

Q

Accelerated Stall

A

-Bank for 45 degrees;
-Through 30 degrees, Power idle;
-Start bank to right/left and increase pitch to induce stall;
-Recover on horn by:
● Release nose down first, no lower than 5 degrees down.
● Roll wings level, lead with rudder follow with aileron STAY COORDINATED
● Use rudder to stay coordinated during recovery,
● Increase power to full;
Notes: None of the recovery steps should be completed simultaneously, slow distinct recovery procedure.
