Clouds, Rainfall, Micro Climate Theory Flashcards
Cumulus cloud
Short heavy showers, low in the sky, most known cloud.
Cirrus
Thin wispy clouds over 6km up in the freezing sky
Stratus
Big blankets of dull clouds and low in the sky
Frontal rainfall
The cold air sinks under the warm. The warm air is forced to rise up. The warm air cools.
Relief rainfall
Warm moist air ascends and cools. Rain falls. The cold dry air descends and warms up.
Convectional rainfall
Warm air rises. It starts to cool. Condensation occurs. It rains.
Micro climate
The climate of a small area that differs from the climate of the surrounding area.
Key features of a climate graph
Bar chart for rainfall and line graph for temperature. Months first letter on the bottom of the x axis and temp/rainfall measuring (mm) on either side of the y axis.
