Cirrus clouds
High - thin, white, wispy strands of clouds across the sky. Occurs in fair weather.
Cirrocumulus clouds
High - small white patches arranged in rows. Rare. Appears for short amount of time in winter.
Altocumulus clouds
Mid - common, white/grey patches. Appears in warm humid mornings in the summer.
Nimbostratus clouds
Mid - covers sky in dark grey layers. Blocks out the sun. Rain clouds. Appears when rain or snow is falling.
Cumulus clouds
Low - top round and puffy, bottom flat and dark.
Stratus clouds
Low - flat and uniformly grey, appears on most cloudy days.
Stratocumulus clouds
Low - cumulus clouds spread unevenly across the sky. Appears on most cloudy days.
Cumulonimbus clouds
Appears in all level. Look like cumulus. Top flattened and bottom often dark.
