Cloud Storage
Refers to remote file storage on someone else’s server. Often this is with major third-party companies such as Google, Microsoft or Dropbox
Advantages of Cloud Storage
-No need to purchase devices or extra stuff. These storages can grow or shrink when needed
-Greater fault tolerance than local storage
-Enables file sharing and collaboration
-Remote access to files from any internet-connected device anywhere in the world
Disadvantages of Local Storage
-May need to commit to an annual subscription
-Need internet to access online data
-limited or delayed support from the cloud host
-security of data will be managed by third party - outside of user’s control
-Backup and restore may be slower than local storage depending on your internet connection speed
-May be responsible for any security breach when you didn’t have much control
