What instruments are used?
A
- strings: violins, cellos, double basses, violas
- woodwind: bassoons, oboes, flutes, clarinets (in A)
- brass trumpets
- french horns
Percussion: kettle drums + timpani

Describe rhythmic features of the Clock Symphony
A
- ticking sound of the clock is found in constant quaver repetition in the main theme
- melody often uses dotted rhythms
- music gets more complex

Decribe melodic features of the Clock Symphony
A
- mainly scalic + triadic movement
- repetitive 2 note motifs in the ticking clock accompaniment
- there are some ornaments e.g acciaccatura in main melody

Describe harmonic features of the Clock Symphony
A
- Key of 2nd movement is G major (but whole symphony is in D major)
- The chords are mostly used are the Tonic (G major) + Dominant (D major)
- There is a pedal note played by Oboe on Dominant note D
- A pedal note is a long sustained note whilst chord may change around it
