  • In 1996, Clinton introduced a minimum wage of $4.75 an hour which increased to $5.15 the next year.
  • In 1993, he failed in his ambitious attempt to introduce a system of universal health insurance. The Health Security Bill was attacked by the insurance industry and the American Medical Association and was rejected by Congress.
