what is dyspnoea
shortness of breath
where do you auscultate the apex of the right lung
right hand side (always specify side - comes up in anatomy spot, you can lose the mark if you don’t!)
superior to the medial 1/3 of the clavicle
where do you auscultate the apex of the left lung
left hand side (always specify side - comes up in anatomy spot, you can lose the mark if you don’t!)
superior to the medial 1/3 of the clavicle
where do you auscultate the middle lobe of the right lung
right hand side (always specify side - comes up in anatomy spot, you can lose the mark if you don’t!)
between ribs 4 and 6 on the midclavicular line, and midaxilliary line
where do you auscultate for the left lung base
left hand side (always specify side - comes up in anatomy spot, you can lose the mark if you don’t!)
T11 vertebral level (most inferior part of the inferior lobe)
in practice just continue down the back until no further respiratory sounds can be heard
where is the horizontal fissure
follows the RIGHT 4th intercostal space
where are the oblique fissures
bilaterally at the level of ribs 6 anteriorly and rising to T3 posteriorly
SPECIFY RIGHT OR LEFT IF IN ANATOMY SPOT!!
