What are longitudinal studies when researching mental health?
Definition: a longtitudinal study is an observational research method which takes place over a long period of time and involves tracking the same participants through a period of development.
Mental health: Mental disorders can be studied effectively as it shows the progression of the disorder.
What are cross-sectional studies?
Cross-sectional studies take place at one specific moment in time and compares different people at that time. The participants are tested once and is usually to find a relationship.
Anorexia: they are good to use when examining different percentages of a gender who are diagnosed at different ages.
What are cross-cultural methods?
Cross-cultural methods are to understand similarities and differences across different cultural groups.
- In clinical psychology, cultural differences in social norms lead to misdiagnosis.
What is meta-analysis?
A meta-analysis is a study about studies in order to get an integrated result
