• when turning, fluid moves in semicircular canals which feeds into extrinsic eye muscles to turn
the eye in opposite direction to maintain gaze
- sudden reduction of right inner ear function = nystagmus to the left (quick to left, slow to right)
- eventually cerebellum modifies inputs to compensate
