Define dyspepsia

A

Dysfunction of digestion. Indigestion. Characterised by a chronic or recurrent pain in the upper abdomen. Often ‘burning’. Does NOT mean GORD or reflux - it’s a functional ‘disease’ of increased awareness which causes symptoms. Diagnosis of exclusion. GORD is a subset of dyspepsia.

Define waterbrash

A

Over production of saliva, or a regurgitation of a sour, tasteless saliva with small amount of acid content. Commonly associated with GORD.
