Q

What is being done to respond to climate change at an international level

A

International agreements are put in place
Kyoto Protocol -reduce carbon emissions
Copenhagen Accord -reduce emissions with financial support
Paris Agreement-a balance between sources and sinks of greenhouse gases in the second half of century

Q

Explain either the rising sea levels in Maldives or the shortage of water in the Himalayas and you have to explain the things they are doing to stop it from happening

A

The risks of reduced water supply are the following: not enough water, trouble for farmers, harming nature, getting sick, no electricity, etc.
Some solutions for these problems are:
Saving water – by fixing leaks, taking shorter showers, and turning off taps when not in use.
Growing drought-resistant crops - farmers can plant crops that need less water to grow.
Protecting nature – planting trees and and protecting forests can help keep water in the ground.
Providing clean water – building wells and water purification systems can prevent people from getting sick because of dirty water.
Using other sources of energy – instead of relying on dams for electricity, they can use solar panels and wind turbines for electricity.
