What are elements?
Elements are pure substances that cannot be changed into simpler substances.
What are compounds?
Pure substances that are composed of two or more types of elements that are chemically combined.
What are elements composed of?
One atom.
What are compounds?
Compounds are things that can only be changed into simpler substances (elements).
What are mixtures?
Mixtures are composed of two or more different substances that retain their own individual properties and are combined physically (mixed together).
What is a heterogeneous mixture?
A mixture that you can still see the substances that have been mixed.
What is a homogeneous mixture?
A mixture that is so evenly distributed it’s not visibly distinguished.
What is another name for a homogeneous mixture?
A solution.
