There are generally five kingdoms (Amimalia, Plantae, Fungi, Monera, Protoctista/Protists), but the kingdoms Monera and Protists may be divided in to several other kingdoms.
For example, bacteria may be divided into eubacteria and archaebacteria, while protists may be separated into algae (can be further separated into their pigments) and protozoa (unicellular organisms).
