Tanya Luhrmann and her colleagues interviewed twenty people with schizophrenia in San Mateo, Accra, and Chennai.
Voices from Eastern countries were reported as friendlier, with this either being relational (Chennai) or the voice of God (Accra).
This could indicate that “the harsh violent voices so common in the West may not be an inevitable feature of schizophrenia”
Evaluative: Voices were present in all subjects, the content and relation of this voice is subject to the culture a patient lives in.
