How many domains are there?
3
What are the 3 domains?
- Archaea
- Bacteria
- Eukaryota
How many Kingdoms are there
6
Which kingdoms are in the Archaea Domain?
Archaebacteria
Which kingdom/s are in the bacteria category?
Eubacteria
Which kingdoms are in the Eukaryota domain?
- Protista
- Fungi
- Plants
- Animals
What is the archaea domain?
It contains primitive forms of bacteria that can live in extreme conditions
What is the bacteria domain?
These are types of true bacteria and bacteria like organisms that can photosynthesise
What is the kingdom called Eubacteria?
It has no nucleus and is a single cell. Eg. Bacteria
What are the characteristics of the eukaryota domain?
These are organisms that have cells that contain a nucleus enclosing genetic material. There are 4 kingdom
What are the characteristics of organisms classified in the Protista kingdom
Protista organisms are mostly single celled (except large algae). Eg Amoeba, Algae
What are the characteristics of organisms classified in the Fungi kingdom?
These are cell walls made out of Chitin and DO NOT photosynthesise. Reproduce by forming spores. Eg. Mushrooms and yeast
What are the characteristics of organisms classified in the plants kingdom?
Made up of many cells. Cell walls made up of cellulose and contain chloroplast. Use light to make food by photosynthesis. Eg. Flowers, mosses and grasses
What are the characteristics of organisms classified in the Animal kingdom
Made up of many cells and have no chloroplast and compact body shape. Unable to make food so they feed off other organisms. Eg. Fish ,insects, humans
