Classical Conditioning - Ian Pavlov Flashcards
1
Q
Pavlos dogs
A
Conducted experiment to see whether a bell could induce salivation by associating it with food.
1) UCS, food = UCR, salivation
2) NS, bell = NO CR, no salivation
3) NS, bell + UCS, food = UCR, saliva
4) CS, bell = CR, salivation
2
Q
Classical conditioning
A
Refers to the process of learning through association. (Stimulus = response).
3
Q
Extinction
A
- When the cs no longer leads to a cr
- Occurs when the ucs is no longer presented with the cs so cr goes.
- This doesn’t mean behaviour is in learnt, just dormant
4
Q
Spontaneous recovery
A
After extinction it may occur
5
Q
Main features
A
- Unconditioned stimulus (UCS) = unconditioned response (UCR)
- Neutral stimulus (NS) = no response
- NS + UCS = UCR
- Conditioned stimulus (CS) = conditioned response (CR)
