Q

What is/are the difference/s between Conditional/Unconditional Stimulus and Conditional/Unconditional Response? Define them.

A
  • An Unconditional Stimulus makes an unconditional response. But a conditional stimulus makes a conditional response.
  • Unconditional stimulus is a stimulus in which it triggers a certain reaction/thought automatically (without teaching). Although a conditional stimulus is a stimulus in which it was used to be taught a certain response.
  • Unconditional response is a reaction to a natural reaction to a stimulus. Although a conditional response is an action associated with a stimulus which was taught and paired with its stimulus.

Q

What are the 3 classical conditioning stages?

A

1) The UCS produces an UCR.

2) A neutral stimulus is paired with an UCS. Later on, the neutral stimulus will become the CS through teaching.

3) Now the CS stimulus is associated with the UCS, therefore producing a CR.

Q

If a condition response disappears, would it vanish forever?

A

Not necessarily. Although it may affect the response to the conditioned stimulus, which would be weaker.

Q

Define “The Blocking Effect”.
