Q
Oxidoreductase: cofactors and common names/examples
A
- Usually with cofactors NADH/NADPH/FADH2
- Oxidase
- Hydroxlyase
- Cytochrome P450*
- Oxygenase
2
Q
Transferase: Reaction and Common Names/examples
A
AB + C A + BC
1) Aminotransferase (transaminase)
2) Kinase (Pi transferred from ATP)
3) Synthase (glycogen synthase= glycogen made)
3
Q
Hydrolase
A
- Uses H20 to break bonds
1) Protease (see other deck to memorize these)
2) Esterase
3) Phosphatase
4) Peptidase
5) Urease
4
Q
Lyase
A
- Cleave C-C, C-S, C-N any other way than oxidation or hydrolysis, “catch all”, Reverse rxns to form bonds,Form C=C bonds by removing H2O from COH-CH
1) Decarboxylase
2) Aldolase
3) Synthases
5
Q
Isomerase
A
- atoms rearranged, nothing lost or added
1) Epimerase
2) Racemase
3) Mutase
6
Q
Ligase
A
- Requires ATP, forms C-C, C-S, C-O, C-N
1) Synthetase (NOT THE SAME AS SYNTHASE)
