Class notes Flashcards
Where does free energy come from?
The sun
Prokaryote cell swallowed…
Mithocondria
Autotrophs are also called…
Producers
Eterotrophs are also called…
Consumers
1st level of the food chain
Autotrophs
What is needed to start photosynthesis
Sun, water and carbon dioxide
Evolution
The process of photosynthesis that occurs under very hot conditions, and at night
What is needed to go into cellular respiration?
Glucose and oxygen
Once oxygen is consumed ___________ comes into action.
Fermentation
Fermentation produces…
Lactic acid
Pain is….
an alertness!!!
Cellular respiration happens when there is…
Oxygen
What is the formula of photosynthesis?
6CO2 + 6H2O —–> C6H12O6 (molecule of glucose) + 6O2
Where does the light reaction take place?
In the thylakoid MEMBRANE
Parts of the Light Reaction
Photosystem II and I
What happens in photosystem II?
Light hits the photosystem II and agitates the electrons, as result water is split. Oxygen becomes a waste procudt and hydrogen releases 2 electrons. These electrons go to the Electron Transport Chain
What happens in photosystem I?
The electrons in the transport chain starts to bump into the proteins until it runs out of energy and when its recharged it becomes NADPH.
Where is the electron transport chain located?
Between the thylakoid membrane
Hydrogen =
Protons
Hydrogen is released thorugh…
Pumps (ATP synthase)
What is the product of light reaction?
NADPH, oxygen, and ATP
