A

Lack of basic needs (income)

  • POOR HOUSING: illness (miss content put them behind) overcrowding (cant do homework, put them behind)
  • FEAR OF DEBT (can’t go to uni, so no motivation)
  • POOR DEIT (no concentration)
  • FIANCEE (can’t afford trips, equipment so miss out)

How does CULTURAL DEPRIVATION effect class difference in education

A

Families lack certain socialisation so limits them in school.
-SPEECH ND LANGUAGE CODE; (BERNSTIEN)
Restricted Code, working class descriptive needs more explication.
Elaborated Code, middle class analytical. Spoken by teachers, so working class need more support.
-PARENTS EDUCATION; more educated parents have better discipline skills so can control children more, meaning they will behave more in the classroom. They also have higher expectations, which reflects in the classroom.
Higher educated parents have better jobs, so can spend the wages on tutors or equipment which puts those children at an advantage.
